NDIS
National Disability Insurance Agency is an independent statutory agency and their role is to implement the NDIS, which provides support for Australians with a significant and permanent disability and their families and carers. The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/ is an independent agency established to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services.
The Commission regulates NDIS providers, provides national consistency, promotes safety and quality of services, resolves problems and identifies areas for improvement.

ADVOCACY, INFORMATION AND RELATED SERVICES

Family Advocacy https://www.family-advocacy.com/ is an independent, impartial advocacy organisation that supports families across NSW to promote and defend the rights and interests of people with developmental disability. Resourcing Inclusive Communities https://www.ric.org.au/ is an initiative of Family Advocacy that provides information and resources to assist people with disability to live meaningful lives, as valued members of their communities.
NSW Council for Intellectual Disability https://cid.org.a is a disability rights organisation led by people with an intellectual disability that provides an advocacy service for people with an intellectual disability. You can call them on 1800 424 065 or email info@cid.or.au.
IDEAS https://www.ideas.org.au/ is a national organisation run by people with a disability whose purpose is to provide free, independent information and opportunities for people with disabilities, their supporters and the community. They have an office in the East Nowra Shoalhaven Neighbourhood Services Building 2/80 Park Road East Nowra 2541 (email karynmills@ideas.org.au). One of their services is called ‘possABLE Advocacy’. Illawarra Advocacy www.illawarraadvocacy.org.au is an independent, government-funded community organisation that provides free advocacy to people with a disability living in the Illawarra. You can call them on; (02) 4229 4999
